Guest Artists and Speakers: AK Coope
Clarinettist AK Coope is frequently heard with the Vancouver and Victoria
Symphonies, Turning Point Ensemble, Aventa Ensemble and the Vancouver
New Music Ensemble. She is also a member of one of Vancouver’s
premier contemporary music ensembles, Standing Wave with whom she has
recently released “Redline”, a CD of new Canadian commissions.
AK has performed both across Canada and internationally, including recent
concerts across Eastern Canada, in New York City and in Bali, Indonesia.
As a composer, she has worked with members of Vancouver’s dance
and theatre communities and in 2006, her first full-length musical, “How
I Became Queen” was premiered by the Evergreen Cultural Centre
in Coquitlam. She holds degrees from UBC and from Northwestern University
in Chicago and is on faculty at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
