VISI Faculty: Nancy Cottingham Powell
Producer,
Production Manager, Marketing, Publicity, Sales, and Sponsorship
Nancy’s background is steeped in the entertainment industry, training to be in front of the lights at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California then evolving into production behind the scenes during Vancouver’s Expo ’86. She has been part of the special event and television industries ever since. Her specialty is conceptualizing and executing production plans along with programming, marketing and sponsorship management. She has acquired a strong understanding of the needs of marketing and sponsorship and learned how best to service those needs within the structure of the existing production. Drawing on her years of experience, Nancy is able to outline a detailed critical path and communicate clearly to the production team as the event unfolds, creating a cohesive team that is highly effective. Her major credits include Entertainment Manager at the Pacific National Exhibition; Festival Coordinator for the Sechelt Arts Festival; Production Coordinator for “Paintings Below Zero” exhibition for the Cultural Olympiad at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympic Games and Ontario 2007; Production Manager for the Vancouver Symphony Summer Series and Festival Vancouver; Associate Producer on the Variety Club Telethon; and Assistant to the Producer on ‘Experience Canada’ a cross-Canada theatrical tour celebrating Canada’s 125th birthday. Along with working with VISI, she is currently director of marketing and production for the Arcadian Symphonic Concerts, marketing family concerts to Symphony Orchestras throughout North America.
