Guest Artists and Speakers: John Greer
John
Greer is an active conductor, vocal coach, collaborative pianist and
composer throughout the US, Canada and abroad in recital and on various
CBC broadcasts. He has conducted many opera companies including the Canadian
Opera Company and has held directorial positions at the Eastman Opera
Theatre and the Opera Studio at the University of Maryland. His compositions
have been heard in venues such as Alice Tully and Wigmore Halls and at
music festivals such as Banff, Brevard, Glimmerglass, Tanglewood and
Aldeburgh, England. Most recently, Copenhagen, Denmark was the site of
the first "Greeriad" featuring all Greer compositions, presenting
four premiers of his song cycles and his Liebesleid Lieder.
Mr. Greer is currently the Director and Chair of Opera Studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston and the General Manager and Head of Music Staff for the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina.
