Guest Artists and Speakers: Diane Loomer
Diane
Loomer, C.M. is internationally recognized as one of Canada's leading
conductors and musicians; she is a sought-after conductor and clinician
on the international choral scene with engagements taking her across
the world. Her choirs have repeatedly won first prizes in national and
international competitions and her choral compositions have been published
and recorded internationally. She frequently appears on CBC radio and
CBC TV as a commentator and host. Ms. Loomer has conducted several ACDA
State Honour Choirs and Provincial Youth and Honour Choirs across Canada.
Her recent awards and achievements include the appointments to the University
Women’s Scholar Lecture Series by the University of Victoria, as
Conductor Emeritus by Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, and the establishment
of Cypress Choral Music, a publication source of new Canadian choral
music. For her service to music and humanity, Ms. Loomer was awarded
the country's highest civilian honor, the Order of Canada.
