Guest Artists and Speakers: Heather Pawsey
Acclaimed for her “stylistic versatility, the flexibility of her voice, its clarity, range and power" (Halifax Chronicle Herald), soprano Heather Pawsey's career encompasses opera, oratorio, chamber, symphonic and contemporary music. First Prize winner of the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, she has performed across North America, Europe, Russia, Singapore and Australia. Heather has sung roles with Vancouver Opera, Burnaby Lyric Opera, Prairie Opera and Opera Viva, and has appeared as soloist with Turning Point Ensemble, West Coast Symphony, Vancouver Island Symphony, Music in the Morning, Sonic Boom Festival and CBC Radio, among others. Recent highlights include Guest Artist at Scotia Festival of Music (Halifax); a recital at Government House (Regina) for the Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan; and the North American premiere of Anders Nordentoft’s opera On This Planet with Aventa. A fearless champion of contemporary (and particularly Canadian) music, Heather has a number of world premieres to her credit, many of them written specifically for her.
