David Gordon Duke

David Gordon Duke 240David Gordon Duke was born in Vancouver and has degrees in musicology from UBC, the University of North Carolina and the University of Victoria.  He also studied composition privately with Jean Coulthard, who became the subject of his doctoral dissertation.

As a musicologist he has written extensively about Canadian music and composers.  He has been heard on the CBC and regularly contributes reviews and essays to The Vancouver Sun.  As a composer he is best known for his many educational publications.

He was appointed Dean of Language, Literature and Performing Arts at Douglas College after several years of post-secondary teaching.
