Study Program: Accommodation
VISI will take place at the facilities of the School of Music at the University of British. Classes, rehearsals, lectures, workshops, and most concerts will be held on its campus.
VISI is pleased to offer three different options of on campus accommodation. Options range from private bedroom within a four-bedroom apartment with bathroom, lounge and kitchenette, to suites with bedroom, bath, TV and kitchenette.
To reserve your space you must contact the preferred facility by May 16th, 2007 to confirm your stay. Whatever spaces have not been confirmed will be released to the public, and we will not be able to guarantee your spot.
To make a booking, simply call the facility of your choice, and inform them that you are coming for the Vancouver International Song Institute. They will reserve your room at our arranged rates. You will need a credit card to confirm your stay.
Please don’t forget to inform our Registrar of your accommodation choice.
University housing options include:
- St. John's College (604-822-8788): single rooms with a private bath. $95.00 a day.
- Carey Centre (604-224-4308): single rooms with a private bath. $65.00 a day.
- Gage Towers (604-822-1000): individual single rooms with bath, common area, and kitchenette shared with three others. $49.00 a day.
There are numerous dining options on campus, and within walking distance or a short drive or bus trip there is everything from fast-food to fine dining.
In addition to the university options listed, a limited number of home-stay rooms will be available from National Association of Singing Teachers members in the Vancouver area, at rates comparable to or better than at B&Bs. As well, there are a number of B&Bs located on the west side of Vancouver, particularly in the Kitsilano area. Vancouver also has a wide array of downtown hotels ranging from mid-price to high-end. If you are thinking of staying downtown so as to have access to the urban centre, there are direct bus routes to UBC. The travel time on city transit would be about 40 minutes in total. If you are renting a car, the driving time from downtown to UBC is about 20 minutes.
