Professional Development Stream: Performance Studies

Collaborative Song program for advanced singers and pianists. VISI is an opportunity for performers to explore the vital collaboration between words and music, singer and pianist, performer and audience. We will challenge students to interact in active discussions on the social, historical, and philosophical contexts of the poems and songs we are studying. Focus will include exploration of the vast stylistic diversity of the repertoire. Through a dynamic balance of master classes, private coaching, discussions, and performance, the students and faculty will work together to establish tools for animated rehearsal and performance processes, setting the highest standards of collaboration and spontaneity. This is a course that will change your views of song and its relevance in the world.

  • Performance classes, private coaching, diction practice, lectures and workshops relating to diverse aspects of interpretation and performance practice, as well as opportunities for performance in song salons and outreach concerts.
